A bakery in the northern part of the city with a large oven and devices for grinding grain.
Another bakery with nearly intact grinding devices. Grain was poured into the top of the grinder. The upper section was turned by animals over the stationary lower section. The ground grain was then collected from around the base of the grinder.
At least 35 bakeries have been identified in Pompeii so far.
